Torq BUF502X TORQ22D Random Orbital Polisher Kit (Polisher + 8 Items)

I bought this as a replacement to a porter-cable random orbit unit that I have been using for years to polish and wax my cars. Bought this one because it was a larger orbit. I used the polisher to do a complete job on a car yesterday (washed, clayed, polished, sealed), and it worked great. Easy to control. I also like the larger orbit, which seems like it will make doing my wife's 5 series a lot faster. I gave 4 stars because the unit gets quite hot, and I only used the second speed setting. Seems to be hottest at what I would think is the gearbox/worm gear. It wasn't a real problem because I would put it down between panels and it would cool quickly. The polishing pads never got hot.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a professional detailer, in fact all my experience is by hand polishing or by using an old 1990’s Craftsman $29.00 polisher. Six months ago, I purchased a new truck (Honda Ridgeline) and after putting a ceramic coating by hand I felt it was time to move up to a real polisher, boy, did the prices change since then! Anyway, it seems like the 21mm throw is the latest thing now, so I zeroed in on the lager ‘throw’ models.
After much research on the different brands and prices available on the internet and after watching some YouTube videos, I started zeroing in on the TORQ brand, because the price was much lower than the other ‘21mm throw’ machines. I pulled the trigger when I saw a price drop on Amazon and bought the TORQ (BUF502X) 22D kit.
I was worried about the electronic control and having to press the ‘+’ button every time to get it up to the higher RPM’s. but within the 2 hours that I spent polishing my truck, I got used to it, (in fact, I like that it always starts out slow then you can choose what speed to raise it to. Not once did I sling the wax into parts unknown.) The circular orbit of the 21mm throw created huge beautifully symmetric patterns on my clearcoat I was impressed! (I wished that I used it for my ceramic coating that I had done by hand). The larger ‘throw’ of the machine meant a larger area could be completed in less time, thus a quicker wax job overall.
The 22D glides over the car panels with ease. It is easy to control. It has minimal vibration. The 22D could easily be used one handed when necessary. The only minor drawback I noticed was that the ‘brushes’ area did get a little warm, but that is to be expected, the air vents are well placed near the brushes area to keep it from getting hot.
Overall 5 Stars: Most important is the price, the TORQ 22D is much easier on the budget than the other ‘large throw’ polishers. It features, one handed use, controllability, minimal vibration and I have come to love the slow start. It seems like it can handle years of use. (yet to be proven) but it does have a solid feel to it. Long story short, I have a ‘long throw’ polisher at about half the price of the others, it feels good in my hands, and looks like it will last forever. I am very happy with my purchase.

Awesome machine. This is my second Torq polisher. I use it everyday at least 3hrs. Very smooth and agile. With the 21m throw it really gets the job done quick. The digital settings easily accessible without missing a beat. I have been buffing and polishing automobiles for 27 years and this is now a great addition to my Arsenal. LOVE it.

Very nice tool , wish it came with 16 oz compounds , sample bottles for the price is a ripoff . All in all happy with purchase and complete 2 vehicles so far

Fantastic machine. The removal of the trigger was a great move on their part.
Allows you to set your speed accurately and put your hands where they need to be to hold steady pressure in every weird stance you'll end up in.
Glad to have upgraded to this model. Would suggest to anyone from beginner to professional.

Everything good, work perfect. Thanks for the excelente attention from customers services Department.

I really like it. Quality tool and you can tell buy viewing polishing pattern just how precise the machine is with it's rotations. Also, I like the pads and chemical products.

Awesome polisher, always buy good tools like this, it will save you aloy of time and frustration being able to do a quality job in a shorter amount of time...

It runs smooth . It doesn’t stall as much as my maxshine 15mm, and way less than TorqX does . Mine tends to get pretty hot after polishing for few hours . Overall, I’ve used it twice so fire and I like it !

Great product and works as it should
