3M recommended this product for some of my more heavily oxidized gel coat on my 2013 Sea Ray. The transom had a cloudy or milky appearance, probably because it is always submerged when boating. It took half a dozen passes with my new Griot DA buffer, but it came out clear. I am a multi-step guy when it comes to detailing, not an "all-in-one" believer. But this product applied a protective wax as it compounded. That allowed me to get on the water for the 4th of July with some protection, even if I wanted to apply the "Light" compound and their straight wax or some other brand protectant at a later time. I don't care how poor you are. Invest in a DA (side grinder sized) buffer. Results with paint correction are much better and much faster. In this particular case I would still be working on it.
This is my first detail on a motorhome which has not been taken very well care of I don't think, and I searched for a long time trying to find the right products to do this task. In 2 of the photos you can see the line where it was 3m Perfect-It Gelcoat Medium Cutting Compounded & Wax and where the oxidization was still on the surface. The other 2 photos show the finished shine. This was done using a Griots DA Polisher and a Griots Compounding Orange Pad.
Very happy with the how the 3m Perfect-It worked. I had to continue to clean the compound pad because it would load up with the oxidization/dirt. it took several days, but I couldn't be happier with the results. 3M Perfect-It Gelcoat Medium cutting compound wax is a very good product.
So all in all good stuff. The problem I have is that it claims to get out scratches as course as 1000 grit. I played it safe and went with 1200. Nope did not take it out completely. Looks good from a distance, as in the photo but up close you can see the wavy lines from the wet sanding. So I then tried 2000 grit. It can remove 2000 grit but only with a heck of a lot of work with a rotary and wool pad. My opinion is if you have light oxidation and water spots then this is a winner. If you need to wet sand with anything more corse than 2500 than you might want to go with their heavy rubbing compound.
Works great. Easy to apply. Got all the overspray off my boat and made it shine like new.
Very easy to use. Did a whole 18’ walkaroud with only 1/4 of a bottle and a buffer and wool pad. I plan on getting their perfect wax now to keep it clean.

I have never used a compound or a DA buffer in my life. I ended up getting a project boat that had been neglected outside for about 3-4 years. Did a test spot with two passes of nothing but this product on a wool cutting pad and was very surprised at the results. This product works great.
