I’ve been doing paint corrects for roughly 12 years on the side and this product has most impressed me over anything I’ve ever used.
Very important that you prep paint properly and remove any swirls/defects etc as you will more less lock anything in after applying this coating.
A piece of advice for you guys. I was in a 75 degree garage and wiping/buffing immediately after applying (which is what every instruction says) DID not work for me. After a while i learned that i had to wait 30-45 seconds for the product to flash well enough for the buffing to actually remove hazing vs smearing product. I assume they tell everyone to wipe immediately after applying as they want to protect themselves against folks who may be applying in the desert in direct sunlight. IDK, i hope this helps someone. I at first was super paranoid about screwing something up and it getting locked in. That wasn’t the case. I was able to buff to perfection every panel i did. It’s pretty dummyproof.
I have always taken pride in the fact that I take care of my cars. They are two bucket - hand washed, clayed, polished, waxed, etc.... Then I got older and decided there had to be a better way. I read about carbon coatings and was stunned at what it would cost to have a detailing shop do the work, plus they needed the car for a few days. Basically an investment.
About one year ago, I did my research and came across the McKee 37 brand. Never heard if it but the reviews were good and the videos were very informative. So I bought the previous version of the Paint Coating and applied it to my car and the house car. Simple!!!!! The rest of the year was nothing more than easy car washes.
A few weeks ago I decided to make my life even easier. I sent a note to McKee’s asking about some of the new products. Nick was responsive, informative and I bought the new Paint Coating plus the Hydro Blue coating.
First, I washed and clayed my white car. It had been coated with the previous version of the paint coating. Then I applied the paint coating to everything but the glass and tires. It popped and made my car’s hips look stunning!!! The black trim looks deep and should stay that way (based on the previous version experience). The product was easy to apply and water beads and falls quickly.
After a week, I washed and clayed the house car. It’s silver and sits outside where birds seem to love it. It’s always exposed to the environments of below freezing to over 100 degree through the year. This car already has a coating of the previous version of the paint coating and still looked really good.
I was very skeptical of the hydro wash but I was wrong. It’s obvious that you don’t need much but you need to splatter it everywhere and thus the reason for the hard stream of water. The silver really shines and black looks deep. This is a no brainer. Wash the car like your supposed to, spray the hydro blue, rinse and dry with a good micro fiber. Also, no water spots!!!!
Finally, I pulled out the white car, washed it (it was fast due to the new paint coating) and applied the hydro blue. That’s did it. The car really shines. It’s beautiful.
If your looking to make your life easier, save a lot of time and still get great results I would highly recommend these products and this company. The support and information is abundant (YouTube videos and the personal email responses) and makes me very comfortable apply these products to my cars.
This is my second nano coating I've used. The sponge is great and it conforms to my hand. I washed it immediately after use. No soap.
I tested this first on the windows on one side. I did the whole side and then wiped. Big mistake. There were areas which would not wipe off. I tried to use my clay to no avail. Stuff is HARD. I used a straight razor on the glass to remove the coating. Wow.
So I learned my lesson. I did the other side one window at a time. Perfect. Stuff wiped on and off without any smudge.
Since my Tesla is mostly glass, I did all the glass. Next time I wash the car, I will do panels.
By the way, I cleaned the glass, then clayed the panes, then wiped with alcohol, then applied the coating.
Needed lots of air in the garage. Stuff is strong.
Water beads off the glass. So this is a great product so far.
This is a great product! I have never used McKees before but I am sold now. I have used other 9H ceramic coatings, some of which cost a lot more. I thought these were good until I used this coating. The deep color and shine are amazing and so far the durability seems great! I actually did over a car that I had done with the other coating because it was showing water spots. After putting on this product great shine and no more water spots! The only small complaint I have is that the sprayer clogged up after the first use. I couldn’t find anything to tell me to clean it after use because there is enough product for 2-3 cars. Buy this product but maybe clean the sprayer with some kind of solvent after use.
I’ve been researching dyi ceramic coatings for car finishes. I’m big on waxing but I’m interested in something that lasts longer. After much research I selected McKee’s M37. I ordered it thru Amazon for $45 dollars. Now, which car to test it on??? My daughter’s 8 yr old Focus, of course! I’m the only one that attempts to do anything cosmetic to it. I try to wax it as least once a year, usually twice.
The prep work was the worst. The finish has to be cleaned if any residual wax so the M37 can bond. I used Ultimate Compound and it was a lot of work and 85 today. McKee’s does sell a prep product that looks much easier to use and I will be ordering it. The compound did a nice job smoothing the surface and removing light scratches.
Then I started applying the M37. It was as easy to apply as advertised. You apply in small sections and immediately wipe down with a microfiber towel to even out. The results were amazing. It leaves a glass like appearance to the paint. Glossier than regular wax. It doe not streak or leave any type of unevenness to the finish as wax sometimes does. I’m looking forward to seeing the durability over time. The car has always sat outside In the Arkansas heat.
I tried to capture the finish as best I could but the pics don’t show how good it looks in person. Not bad for an 8 yr old car. After some test time I will be applying to our black car.

Description
I can't take any credit for the McKee's 37 Daily Driver Ceramic Paint Coating Kit. The credit for this do-it-yourself ceramic paint coating kit goes to my customers who called, wrote, emailed, and texted asking me to assemble what is arguably the best value in ceramic paint coating kit. With this kit you can clean, polish, and coat your daily driver with protection that lasts upwards of two years. No professional experience required
It works and goes on fast. So if I was to put the prep time and this product on a pie chart... it would be 99% time to prep and 1% time to apply this product. That’s right, my 12 year old car took hour after hour to take the paint to show car level before I could apply this right. Otherwise you have shit in your paint and clear above it. And yes, where I forgot to clean up extra, I was left with streaks. Which just proves it’s permanent and not just another wax job.
I’ll start off with noting that I’m a professional detailer of over ten years. It’s very rare to find a company with excellent customer service that also has an excellent product. Everything I’ve tried from Mckees 37 has been top notch. The paint coating goes on easy, protects and lasts with the best of them. It’s my first go to coating when a client calls. One bottle goes a long way, definitely a great value! I’ve enclosed a photo of a ZL1 Camaro I recently coated.
I am very impressed with the McKees 37 Ceramic Coating. It really adds a very deep shine to paint. This is my toy car, a Honda S2000 and I spent quite a bit of time prepping the paint, including some paint touch-up (I was told that most touch-up paints are lacquer, and dry quickly) more so than the other three cars that I did with this one bottle. After washing with Dawn dishwashing liquid to remove the paint, I clay-barred and buffed the paint using a swirl-mark remover to make sure I had all contaminates removed. The McKee’s coating went on very easily, and you are working with a very small amount of material, it really doesn’t take much. I knew I was going to be impressed as soon as I started because you could see the vivid difference of the before and after as I started on the first section of the hood. It really leaves the car with the show room finish - Really!
I did this car, which is fairly small, but additionally I was able to do three different SUVs with the one bottle.
You do need to keep in mind that the pot life of this product is 30 to 60 days. It doesn’t last very long in the bottle.
One of the SUVs that I did was 07 on the CRV which has plastic around the bottom of the vehicle. Several weeks later, I noticed a fair amount of dirt that had clung to the plastic, as well as a small 1 inch wide section just above the plastic, where I had apparently missed applying the McKees coating. This contrast really points out just how much dirt falls off the vehicle and does not stick, when the coating is applied.
The other thing that I really like is that since this coating is so hydrophobic, I can use my leaf blower to blow the car dry in a very short period of time. It is so much faster than having to dry with several towels like I did before.
Time will tell if the coating will last the 2 years that they claim...
Years ago when we bought a new Audi A7 a guy at the car wash educated me on paint sealant. I had noticed the "ceramic" coatings about one year. We just bought a new car and so purchased. We applied to the new car yesterday. The videos done by Nick Rutter helped us and everything went well. We also used the glass coating and looks great. Obviously, have no info on longevity, but I will report back.
Very impressed with the results of this 5 step process. Doing my M3 took around 6 hours plus or minus with setup. You definitely need at lest 5 additional microfiber towels if you don’t want to risk reusing a dirty one which honestly is not worth the risk if you detailing your car for 5 plus hours. The polish worked great for minor swirl marks but if you have a darker color car or anything more than surface swirl marks I would recommend you do a buffer Compound that is more aggressive than the prep wax this comes with. The prep wax it comes with is for newer cars, so if your buying this kit and have more than minor swirls then I would recommend also doing the buffer process but keep in mind you will also need to by some isopropyl alcohol to rinse the car with after before applying the ceramic coating, I believe meckees sells a product for this as well but remember if you use any wax or compound besides the one with this kit you need to do the alcohol clean after. Honestly couldn’t be happier with the result especially on the exposed carbon fiber.
