This baffle (I bought two, they're packaged individually) did the trick. I cored my stock exhaust on my '95 Softail and it had an obnoxious bellowing splatty sound. Installing these cleaned up the sound, but also made it quieter than I wanted. I also regained some needed backpressure. I cut off one row of holes at a time and test rode it. I ended up cutting off two rows to get the sound I was looking for. It idles mellow and I can hear it when I'm going down the highway. I installed them at the end of the head pipe, which is 1.65 inside dia. The baffle was about 1.62 outside dia, so I wrapped it with aluminum can to make it tighter and put a little crimp at the end of the pipe and baffle. Then, the muffler clamp holds it in place just fine.
I completely recommend this baffle.
I acquired four of these, and welded the small ends together on pairs to make a set of longer 1-3/4" baffles for my custom exhaust. The fitament and the sound are exactly what I needed. In the picture you can see one pair welded together, wrapped in steel wool, after one run around the block (I took the steel wool off, not that it would have lasted much longer anyway) The coating burns off pretty quickly, but the sound is excellent (and far preferable to short open pipes). These fit inside 1-3/4" OD tubes; others I have seen talk about being a 1-3/4" tube, but they mean that the smaller tube is 1-3/4", and the part fits a 2" exhaust.
Installed on my 2011 Street Glide with the Supertrapp header pipe with dual 4" Megaphones which are gutted. Bike before was loud and obnoxious and had constant backfire when really getting on it, installed these 1-3/4" baffles in the Header pipe itself and it made a world of difference. bike is still loud obviously but not like it was and has a much deeper tone to it as well. Did not have to re-tune as of now from looking at the data, but will take another look a few days down the road to see what the table look like.
Definitely it does its work! Lowers the noise to a better sound, installation was just as easy as possible, they will lock under the pressure on the exhaust clamps, and not move. No more ear buzz... only reason not giving a five star I wish a there was a five o six inches baffle. I installed those on an Indian Scout, literally those will make emgo exhaust a Khrome Werks or so, backpressure is improved, temp goes between OEM parameters and no cat no baffle temp.
These were a perfect fit to give some back pressure. My bike doesn’t backfire and it softened the loudnessof the pipes.

Better than expected. Can’t beat the price. Excellent product! Installed on V Star 650 with cobra drag pipes. Dropped sound level 3db at idle and 6 dB at half throttle. Just enough to take the bite off but leaving a good sound.
I used this on my GZ250 after replacing the stock muffler with a Helix Turn-out muffler: Helix Racing Products Universal Muffler - 20in. - Turn-Out , Color: Chrome 240-1900 It quieted the loud pitchy pop the muffler alone provided and gave the bike a bit more of a rumble (as much as a 250cc engine can "rumble" that is). This baffle also provides some back pressure to the exhaust system which saved me from having to do any carburetor mods in order to get my low end performance back after the muffler swap. Great little product for price!
Make loud pipes, not so loud. You will need to adjust carbs.
It works purposely if you know what you're gonna use it for. I bought two to weld together, works great.
Free of defects. Looks exactly as pictured.
