As an aircraft mechanic I consider Scotch-Brite a tool. When cleaning and prepping aluminum, removal of corrosion and even for paint removal to scrubbing my hands to get deep black grease off because it will take off the top dead layer. Here is what happened when I started using it at home. First of all, this will scratch most surfaces, (micro scratches) especially when brand new. I cut the pads in half. Light pressure with a wetted with some dawn soap for cleaning the inside of microwave, baked on food in the oven etc. the great thing about it is when it gets used to a point it is softer, unlike the green Scotch-brite you find in the store it still has the cleaning strength when USED and softer but does not scratch as bad. When it gets to this point I use it everywhere, In the kitchen I use it to wash dishes: light pressure because it will still scratch flatware. I have a pad in the bathtub, under my foot a quick wipe of the tub after showering will keep the film created from all the products we use such as deodorant, hair products, soaps etc that we all call soap scum and hard water deposits. it is great for cleaning the toilet and sink as well. Just uses common sense because it will still put light scratches on the faucet surfaces if not used correctly. I will not use it dry or without soap for household tasks but I have a pad available just about everywhere, I even use it to wash potatoes and vegetables. Like I said, this is not like the green you can buy in stores, it keeps its cleaning strength long after most people would throw it away, this is the point it is best inside the house. It is east to clean out, it dries quickly so it will not mold easily. I use the newer pads for cleaning the wheel-wells and tires of cars and trucks but do not use it on the wheels, painted surfaces, glass, plastic because you will ruin them. The uses are endless?

This product is great for cleaning aluminum, steel and prepping parts for paint. Its equal to 280-320 grit. Another product used by Boeing.
These pads got the job done. Having tried a spray can of gasket remover without success for removing gasket residue from a cylinder head I ended using these pads with plenty of elbow grease and WD40. Took a while but did a great job without damaging the aluminum surface.
I polish aluminum tubing on a lathe and this is the first abrasive that I start with .This is a good abrasive to start with if the aluminum is unfinished with light scratches and scrapes, If it's used with a polishing compound it will produce a shine, but not as bright or fine as the finer grades.

I use these for so many things! I cut into small squares so these will last for a very long time! Highly recommend even my husband loves them for use as he restores his cars!
Works great for burnishing the wood dye on the wood surface, which is what I primarily purchased this for. Works great for many other finer grit sanding progressive buffing. Happy with this wood sanding product.
We have been using these scotch-brite pads in our machine shop for years. I have tried other brands but we always go back to these as they are the best and they are very durable. We use these to buff out imperfections in the finish on some of the parts we make. They also make great pot scrubbers for anything other than non-stick pans. Use them to scrub kitchen sinks ... anything porcelain .. clean your coffee carafe ... clean anything that will withstand abrasion. There are different grades of these scotch-brite pads but I like this fine one the best.
Have used this for years professionally. This color, brown, is very abrasive and will remove rust, loose paint and tarnished surfaces. If you are a handy person, this is a must for your shop.
