When I first got this product for my 2016 Mazda3 I followed the package directions and shook the paint for 1-2 minutes before use. IT WAS AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE COLOR MATCH doing it this way...produced more of a silver, almost stainless steel in color. I was super frustrated because honestly, it looked worse than before I had tried to do the touch ups. But then I read a few places that people were saying to shake the product for like 15-20 minutes...no joke. I figured, "what do I have to lose at this point", so I tried that and much to my surprise it actually worked! I shook the product for about 20 minutes straight and after that it was an almost perfect color match. The only problem at that point was trying to "touch up" the places that I had already touched up the first time...ended up looking a little bumpy but the places that I touched up for the first time with the paint being shaken for the extended time look great. The directions on the packaging should be changed, for sure. 1-2 minutes just isn't going to get the job done.
The color matches fairly well. You have to shake the crap out of it for 2-3 minutes to make the metallic color mix with the black or else it'll just come out silver. This is for rock chips ONLY. It's got a metal point that protrudes from the end that will allow you to "dab" an area, but it's not like a brush so if you had a long scratch or area bigger than a rock chip, I'd look elsewhere. It'd be nice if this had a brush on the opposite side like the Honda touch up paint pens.
I ordered the "Titanium Flash Mica 42S OEM Mazda Touch-Up Pen" , and in my experience with the pen I found that it helps more on filling mild to deep paint scratches, small areas of paint scraping and very small paint dents as well.
Using the touch-up pen on fine scratches makes the paint to "seat" over the scratch , not filling the scratch or letting the paint from the pen to integrate with the already existing car paint coating.
Also if you purchase the touch-up pen I would recommend you to shake the pen between 5-10 minutes for best results (Im not kidding, the shaking makes a lot of difference when applying the paint over the car body, as the color from the pen will match more the paint on your car but not 100%)
Also the best technique in my opinion works by doing small pen "pressings" and not by "squeezing", the pressing of the pen into the scratch automatically releases small quantities of paint to fill the scratch, if you press and then squeeze then a lot of paint comes out overflowing over the scratch and making a mess by overfilling the working area , therefore granting you less control on how you can paint the scratch or dent, so remember small tiny pen pressings and pull the pen from the scratch.
Finally, It depends on where you put the paint, not how much you splash on...the touch-up pen does not work miracles but it helps you cover those scratches and to make them less visible, it does what is suppose to do, to be a "touch-up" not a professional solution,so if you need to really fix scratches or dents 100% then take your car to your official Mazda dealership or to a professional body shop.
I hope this information was helpful so can you use this item to the fullest of its capabilities!
I bought the snowflake white touch up paint and used it a couple times. As others have mentioned, you really gotta give this a good shake for a few minutes to mix the paint. The first time I used it, I shook it for maybe 2 minutes it left a metallic silver paint which was better but not great. On a different spot, I shook it for about almost 10 minutes and it produced a more true white color, although still not perfect. I don't know if it can get better but it's decent enough, just a pain to use.
I've thought of taking this pen to where I work since there in a chemical mixer/vibrator machine there and just letting it run for half an hour and see what happens.
The color match, which is the most important thing. To apply it with the tip is a different story. You need to make it flow first and a paper or metal part. After you apply, it most likely will make a little bit a bump, which you will have to smooth in somehow. So you may need an extra brush, which could make the paint disappear and the you would need to add the paint again. Not the most efficient tip for applying a paint.

Color pallet is in fact very same as the original coated on the car. I have read many reviews complaining about how they are different than the original paint colors. It seems that they have not mixed touch-up paints well enough before application or simply they got defected products. The only negative aspect was that it is not so easy to apply touch-up paint in flat.
Perfect
But if you can check first in your paper from the dealer... You will find the color of your car, also do it slowly
It's a really good product
I had a little scratch along the door edge where it had bumped up against my garage wall. This worked perfectly to fix it.
2014 Mazda 3 in pearl white had tiny scratches here and there. This is not perfect but will make the areas less noticeable. The paint color matches but the finish will definitely stand out because it's sitting on top of other paint residue.
Works great and color matches. Just make sure to shake the heck out of it and use it on some paper before your car. Otherwise the color won't match
