I installed this kit as part of the Tundra Brake Upgrade for 3rd Gen 4Runners (1996-2002) on my 1997 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4. After subjecting these brakes to over 15,000 miles of use in all four seasons (temps ranging from -25F to +118F) through snow, ice, slush, misting and torrential rain, mud and dust on most every road surface available, including concrete, asphalt, gravel, cinder, dirt, sand, and challenging 4WD trails.
There hasn't been a single instance in any climate condition, or on any road surface that left me feeling any trepidation while applying pressure to the brake pedal. Unlike the factory disc brake caliper/pad/rotor set that it replaced after approximately 10,000 miles of use, this Power Stop KC2324 brake kit instills absolute confidence with excellent brake modulation and stopping power.
If you are considering this as a front brake upgrade for your 4Runner, please take the time to thoroughly inspect all the major components of your entire 13+ year old braking system and repair/replace anything that needs it at the same time (rear axle bearing seals are a common failure point and adversely affect the rear drum brakes when they fail). Consider flushing and bleeding the entire brake system with a DOT4 synthetic brake fluid, instead of simply bleeding the brakes and topping off the brake fluid.
Keep in mind that the disc brake dust shields will require minor trimming to accommodate the larger 13WL Tundra calipers included with this kit and check to make sure your wheels will clear the calipers, or replace them with wheels that do clear the calipers.
The durability of the pads is excellent, as there is approximately 75% material remaining (measured with calipers) after more than 15,000 miles of mixed use driving. In addition, there is very little brake dust coming off these pads, which helps to keep my wheels looking good! The instructions included with this kit are clear and well organized, especially the details regarding the proper break-in procedure for optimum long-term performance and wear.
I highly recommend this brake kit as an upgrade to every 3rd Gen 4Runner owner I meet. In fact, they look so good behind my wheels that I am often asked about them before I get the chance to make a recommendation.
Note: My 4Runner is frequently loaded with camping gear, extra equipment, kayaks, bicycles and occasionally towing a trailer, so I really appreciate both the reliable stopping power, plus the long lasting pads and rotors.
Used for an upgrade rather than on a Tundra. If upgrading a Gen3 4runner / Hilux Surf, be aware you'll need to fully bleed the system, adjust rear brakes to perfection, and you'll still have a slightly softer pedal with more movement than the OEM setup. The T100 has a master cylinder available on some models to perfectly match.
For anyone looking at these for a 3rd gen 4Runner to do the Tundra brake upgrade I highly recommend. Amazon will of course say they won't fit (dust shield will need trimmed and certain rims won't accommodate, look up installation guide for list of rims that fit) but otherwise its bolt on and works great for both increasing stopping power and getting rid of shake. ABS still works fine and the included pads left no noticeable brake dust. Be sure to bed rotors as per the instructions in the box.

With the stock brakes, Stopping was frightening. Death shake/whole vehicle shakes from overheated brakes
With these the 4000lb vehicle stops without vibration and I'd be comfortable towing anything (within it's limits).
Great product and price. Had to cut the dust shield for a proper fit. But the larger calipers and pads, feel so much better when braking at high speeds

I was a little unsure of purchase based on some of the negative remarks but the kit fit well. The quality was as good as any re-manufactured product I've used. Instructions were clear. Make sure you follow the instructions to seat the brakes. There is also a core buy back program so hold on to the box and calipers. They can be returned to a good core charge. I've had them on for a few days so I will have to see how the perform in time.
