3M recommended this product for lightly oxidized gel coat on my 2013 Sea Ray that sat outside of a dealership/repair shop for 10 months without my usual TLC. Hand application was impressive, but using my new Griot DA buffer on larger surfaces where possible, it took care of all of my issues, both water spotting on black bottom hull, minor scratches, and oxidation on black bottom and white top hull. I am a multi-step guy when it comes to detailing, not an "all-in-one" believer. But this product applied a protective wax as it compounded. That allowed me to get on the water for the 4th of July with some protection, even if I wanted to apply their straight wax or some other brand protectant at a later time. I don't care how poor you are. Invest in a DA (side grinder sized) buffer. Results with paint correction are mech better and much faster.
Used this to remove some LIGHT scratches on my black boat and black truck. Worked really well on the truck. I removed some scratches from my wifes nails on the door. I had to do it twice on the boat, the scratches were deeper than I thought, probably should have got the medium for the boat. It's designed to cut then breakdown into a polishing compound. Really happy with the shine. If you have heavily oxidized gelcoat or deeper scratches on a car may want to try medium. I liked the light because I wasn't worried about taking too much off. Use it with a buffing wheel for best results, it works by hand but takes alot longer. I would buy it again.
I cut this product 50/50 with a (liquid) carnauba wax and used a 6 inch dual action buffer with a pad designed to be a very low degree of agressiveness. It shined the colored gel coat on y boat to look just as good as new. My boat had sat in salt water for over 4 years and was highly oxidized. This product was perfect in bringing the original shine back. Absolutely thrilled with the outcome.
Works fine brought old gelcoat to like new condition. This and the coarse heavy duty compound along with #1000 wet dry sandpaper did a fabulous job restoring old dull gelcoat
This us light cutting. If you have oxidation in the gel coat you need the heavy cut. We started off with this light cut thinking it would be a little more aggressive than it was. We then decided to use the heavy coat first and then used the light cut and then the wax. Overall it came out beautifully and all the 3M products were great. I thought it would be a little heavier cut than it was, but it is a great product to use in stages or if you want something to lightly clean the surface before waxing.
