For Ford Mustang Pony SN95 3.8 V6 Stainless Steel Long-Tube Header Manifold/Exhaust

These headers actually fit pretty well and I did not have to smash any of the primaries to clear the steering shaft. Instead I opted to install a spacer on the motor mounts to slightly lift the motor. You WILL have to lift the motor to install the passenger side header I even removed the throttle body and ac compressor to gain a little more room to work. I am pairing them with a Pypes dual exhaust with catalytic converters, it appears I will need to take a little length off the intermediate pipes after the x-pipe for the systems to work together and not be too long but I am powder coating the valve covers now and haven't crossed that bridge just yet. The headers themselves are very nice, the T304 stainless is exactly that. We did a ferrous test to double check and sure enough they have enough chromium and nickel content to render them non-magnetic. I prefer the stainless headers to the mild steel coated ones. The "bronzing" is actually a normal process for stainless when heavy heat is applied to it. I have had stainless steel headers on other vehicles and seen many at shows that exhibit this characteristic after several heat cycles. I have seen first hand where the ceramic coating eventually fails and the headers rust. The install for an experienced person is not altogether difficult but for a novice or someone with limited tools, this install would be a rough endeavor. I am considering a heat blanket for the starter and the spark plug boots. The primaries ports are huge compared to stock. Stock tubes measure around 1 1/2 to 1 5/8 while these are closer to 1 3/4. There is some error of margin due to the welds around the stock and aftermarket tubes. One thing that did irritate me was that the included hardware bolts were standard where as the 2003 Mustang uses metric. Just a stop to the store and the problem was corrected. I can only assume the hardware is designed for older 3.8 V-6's since it is standard vs. metric. So they lose 1 star for that inconvenience. I will be happy to field any questions stickycactusink@comcast.net on the exhaust if anyone would like. It is difficult for V-6 owners to find the wealth of information the V-8 owners are privileged to have.

Ok guys heres the deal, these will work but they aren't the best quality out there. For one thing they don't stay chrome, which isn't a big deal really, they will turn a brass\copper color after they have been used a little. The pipe on the drivers side is right against your steering column so after they r installed you will have to figure out a way to put a dent right there so it doesn't rub a hole in your header. Another thing to note would be: since these are longer than your stock manifolds you'll need to perches a couple o2 sensor wire extensions. I found these cheaper on American muscle, I think they were around 20 (which is still a little pricy but better than 50 on amazon) I think thats about all I have to say, so if you want the most bang for your buck get these. They've worked great so far

Great product. They fit right on an installation went much smoother than planned. Fantastic price and tremendous value. The only negative is that from heat some of the Chrome now has like a rainbow finish. But that's cool with me

Description

The exhaust manifolds found in the 1994-2004 Ford Mustang V6 were designed to combine the exhaust gasses from each of the cylinders quickly with a manifold that was cost effective to produce. Our 3-1 Long Tube off-road headers are designed to allow the exhaust gasses to flow more freely from each 3 cylinder bank and combine in a more efficient manner. Tubing has been optimized for the 3.8L engine. This creates a reduction in cylinder backpressure and improved exhaust gas velocity. These improvements free up lost horsepower and torque. An added benefit is a more performance oriented exhaust sound.
