I've always used 3m and at this price, I cannot go wrong. I never noticed how old mine was until I got a new one but 3m is the best!
I'm not a pro, I just do my own cars. As a mechanic, I love the fact that they are double sided bonnets.
And the 3M quality, makes them last longer than an average one.

A great product! Just a piece of the system you need to get that mirror finish on a paint job.
So much better than hookit, even though 3m stole Presta's idea (Presta failed to patent click lock)...rounded edge is nice and NO MORE FAILED HOOK AND LOOP!

3M™ Perfect-It™ Foam Compounding Pads help deliver a truly professional-grade finish on paint, fiberglass and gelcoat – ideal for compounding cars, boats, trucks and RVs. Great for smoothing surfaces after you’ve sanded them or if they are heavily oxidized, these pads are designed to work with rubbing compound to eliminate small scratches and other defects before polishing. The face is designed with a waffle pattern that helps maintain consistent contact with the surface without creating extra heat. The double-sided compounding pad features Quick Connect attachment – a durable center plate slides onto rotary polishing tools, and the 3M™ Perfect-It™ Quick Connect Adaptor (05752) includes a locking system that locks the pad securely on the tool, eliminating fly-offs. The system also automatically centers the pad to reduce vibration and wobbling for easier, more effective compounding. Use the 3M™ Perfect-It™ Foam Compounding Pad with 3M™ Perfect-It™ Rubbing Compound (06085). All of these products are part of the 3M™ Perfect-It™ Paint Finishing System. It is what it is, an 8" dual sided foam pad. MUCH better than the wool/velcro counterparts.
